Performances in 2008 

 (in addition to weekly rehearsals)

March 9:  A Musical Tour of Europe, Winter Concert at LaSells Stewart Center.  Program featured Lisa Taylor, clarinet soloist, The Willamette Apprentice Ballet and the Corvallis Academy of Ballet.  Attendance was approximately 800.

March 16:  A Musical Tour of Europe, Concert at the Performing Arts Center in Newport.  The same concert was performed in Newport to an audience of about 200.

April 19:  Concert at Alsea High School.  Attendance: about 100.   Some band members also went during the school day to work with middle school band members. 

May 18:  Inter-Tuned, A Gathering of Musical Ensembles.  Benton County Historical Society Museum, Philomath.  The program featured “Comfort Zone,” a flute-piano duo; “Flute Cocktail,” a flute choir; The Spiritoso Wind Quintet, and the Corvallis Brass Quintet.  Audience about 60

June 15:  OSU Commencement at Reser Stadium.  We provided music prior to and during the awarding of degrees.  Attendance:  10,000 in the stadium, 30,000 via television.

June 17 – August 26:  Summer Concert Series in Central Park.  We played a one-hour concert every Tuesday throughout the summer.  Each concert had a theme.  Musicians rehearsed at 7 PM and remained to play the concert at 8 PM.   Attendance:  200 – 500 each week. July 20:  Concert at DaVinci Days – Central Park.  A small band (around 25 members) played in the park for this event. Attendance:  around 300.

July 26:  Dial-A-Bus Picnic.  Small band played to entertain the guests.  Attendance:  about 50

August 4:  Great Show Tunes Concert at Starker Arts Park.  This was an extra summer concert at a different venue. The program featured Gale Hazel and Paul Pritchard, vocal soloists.   Attendance: 150

August 11:  Great Show Tunes Concert in Albany for Mondays at Montieth.  The CCBand was invited to appear on Albany’s summer concert series, Mondays@Monteith.  We presented the same concert that we had given a week earlier.

November 11:  Veteran’s Day Concert, First United Methodist Church.  Program featured the men’s chorus, The Master’s Men, and many patriotic favorites.  Attendance:  300

November 6, November 13, and December 4:  Skills Days at Kings Valley Charter School.  Flute Cocktail, a 6-piece band, and the Spiritoso Wind Quintet played and demonstrated their instruments to familiarize the students with a variety of wind instruments.

November 28:  Downtown Holiday Parade. Traveling Band provides Holiday music for the lighted parade.  Attendance:  unknown

December 13:  Traveling Band serenades Holiday Shoppers in Downtown Corvallis. 

December 16:  Holiday Concert at Presbyterian Church, with holiday favorites featuring some of the band’s small ensembles, as well as the full band.  Attendance:  expected 200+
