Corvallis Community Band Activity Report
Performances in 2009
(in addition to weekly rehearsals)
February 8: A President´s Day Celebration! OSU Wind Ensemble and Corvallis Community Band, with special guest, David Ogden Stiers. La Sells Stewart Center, OSU. Attendance: about 1000.
May 12:Spring Concert. First United Methodist Church. Benefit for South Corvallis Food Bank. Attendance: 200+.
May 28: Flute Cocktail played for Monroe Senior Meals. Attendance: 30+
June 13: OSU Commencement at Reser Stadium. We provided music prior to and during the awarding of degrees. Attendance: 10,000 in the stadium, 30,000 via television.
June 16 – August 25: Summer Concert Series in Central Park. We played a one-hour concert every Tuesday throughout the summer. Each concert had a theme. Musicians rehearsed at 7 PM and remained to play the concert at 8 PM. Attendance: 200 - 500 each week. Photos can be seen on our web site.
August 4: Great Show Tunes Concert at Starker Arts Park. This was an extra summer concert at a different venue. The program featured Gale Hazel and Paul Pritchard, vocal soloists. Attendance: 150
August 11: Great Show Tunes Concert in Albany for Mondays at Montieth. The CCBand was invited to appear on Albany´s summer concert series, Mondays@Monteith. We presented the same concert that we had given a week earlier.
September 27: Beaver Country Hot Air Band played at the Kings Valley Farmer´s Market.
November 27: Downtown Holiday Parade. Traveling Band provided Holiday music for the lighted parade. Attendance:1000+
December 10: Saxophone Quartet, Flute Cocktail, and Spiritoso Wind Quintet played for opening of new exhibit at the Benton County Historical Museum. Attendance 50+
December 10: Beaver Country Hot Air Band played for OSU College of Health and Human Sciences Winterfest.
December 12: Traveling Band serenaded Holiday Shoppers in Downtown Corvallis.14 musicians,. Number of Shoppers is unknown.
December 15: Holiday Concert at Presbyterian Church, with holiday favorites featuring some of the band´s small ensembles, as well as the full band. Attendance: 300+
December 21: Beaver Country Hot Air Band played for Albany Rotary Club.
