Corvallis Community Band Activity Report

Performances in 2010 

(in addition to weekly rehearsals)

February 21: Celebrating Song and Dance, featuring Willamette Apprentice Ballet and soloists Gale Hazel and Paul Pritchard. At Florence Performing Arts Center, Florence, Oregon. Attendance 350-400

March 14:Celebrating Song and Dance, featuring Willamette Apprentice Ballet and soloists Gale Hazel and Paul Pritchard. LaSells Stewart Center, OSU Campus Attendance: 800-900

June 12: OSU Commencement at Reser Stadium.  The band provided music prior to and during the awarding of degrees.  Attendance: 10,000 in the stadium, 30,000 via television.

June 15 – August 31:  Summer Concert Series in Central Park.  The band played a one-hour concert every Tuesday throughout the summer.  Each concert had a theme.  Musicians rehearsed at 7 PM and remained to play the concert at 8 PM.   Attendance:  200 – 500 each week. August 2: Broadway Favorites concert at Starker Arts Park. This was an extra summer concert at a different venue. The program featured Gale Hazel and Paul Pritchard, vocal soloists. Attendance: 150

August 9: Broadway Favorites concert in Albany for Mondays at Montieth. The CCBand was invited to appear on Albany’s summer concert series, Mondays@Monteith. We presented the same concert that we had given a week earlier. Attendance: 500+

August 18: Celebration of Passage of the 19th Amendment, sponsored by the League of Women Voters. A small band of mostly women played for a short parade and as participants were gathering for the recognition ceremony. Attendance: 150+

September 2: Volunteer Recognition Picnic at Starker Arts Park, sponsored by Parks and Recreation. Attendance 150+

November 9: Veteran’s Tribute Concert, Dennis Community Hall, First Presbyterian Church. Attendance: 150+.

November 26:  Downtown Holiday Parade. Traveling Band provided Holiday music for the lighted parade.  Attendance: 1000+

December 9: Beaver Country Hot Air Band played for OSU Department of Health and Human Performance Winterfest.

December 14:  Holiday Concert at Dennis Hall, First Presbyterian Church, with holiday favorites featuring some of the band’s small ensembles, as well as the full band.  Attendance:  300+

December 18:  Traveling Band serenaded Holiday Shoppers in Downtown Corvallis. 17 musicians,. Number of Shoppers is unknown.
